Inside Iconography
the Capitals

Outside

Capital  1 Fighting men
They are not knights: neither helmet nor coat of mail, basic weapons only
( clubs, spears and stones, except for the horse man).
Hairstyle and smocks show rustic men, or monks, but no warriors.

Horse man is not on the central part of capital. They are surely training men.

Capital 2 Lion hunting

Men hunt lion with the intention to catch it, but no to kill it.

Capital 3 Christ and monks
Christ, in his mystic almond, is surrounded with 2 groups de 3 figures: they are neither saints nor apostles, but monks.
They represent the 3 orders of world: spiritual order (the first two), intellectual order (the second two with a scribe) and the material order (the third two with a shepherd and a porter).

Capital 4 Chalice between doves

They are 2 doves face to face with a chalice between them: that ancient Persian symbol was used by Christianity to represent
Eucharistic symbol. In Conques, doves sometimes take place to griffons or sphinxes.
This capital seems more ancient than others.

Capital 5 Man in a farmyard ?

Northern  transept several heads

a. bearded man

b. Isis ?

d. lion

Northern transept is decorated with several carved heads, but not in southern transept. A posterior division, perhaps to make a sacristy, cut the head C. Head B seems an "Isis head in majesty". The lion's head is in most primary manufacturing.
c. cutted head
